"use Time Machine to open the HDD", he said. I did, and there it all was. Panic over. I do feel though, that this information should be readily available in the instructions or with Amazon's experts. Compared to the Transcend drive I was using with the old MacBook, via the old USB (the new one has USB-C) this is a very slow process. Both MacBooks have the same amount of data but the Transcend is full and needs to be overwritten each time. The first back up with this Seagate drive took 6 hours. Fair enough. Now a second back up which shouldn't involve much has taken over an hour so far and it says still an hour to go....Was initially happy with item.
